🚫 What’s more, we are seeing cases where consumers are using calcium chloride dehumidifiers that release moisture when saturated. This can cause a short circuit and irreversible damage to the AMS 2 Pro.

⚡ In some cases this also poses a risk of high voltage electric shock, especially with the AMS HT – a risk not covered by warranty!

✅ For complete safety and peace of mind, use only Bambu Lab original dehumidifiers. They are designed specifically for the AMS 2 Pro and help avoid all the risks described.

Removing a frayed strand from a first generation AMS requires removing all spools and disassembling the housing with two screws, which takes 3-5 minutes. In contrast, the AMS 2 Pro offers direct, tool-less access to the threaded tubes on top.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. The AMS 2 PRO features an independent power port in addition to the 6-pin port. Is this necessary?

When the H2D is used with an AMS 2 Pro, all functions, including automatic feeding and drying, can be used without an external power adapter.

When H2D is used with more than one AMS 2 Pro, if some AMS 2 Pro devices are used for multi-color printing and others for filament drying, then the AMS 2 Pro devices used for drying require an external power adapter. The external power adapter can be purchased from the official Bambu Lab store.

 

2. Can X1 and P1 series printers use AMS 2 PRO?

The X1 and P1 series are compatible with AMS 2 Pro. If only the automatic filament feed feature is used, only a 6-pin bus cable, 4-pin bus cable andAMS filament buffer/concentrator are required and no external power adapter is needed. However, if you need to use the drying function, an external power adapter is required for the AMS 2 Pro.

All accessories can be purchased in the upgrade kit in the AMS 2 Pro add-ons section.

3. Can AMS and AMS 2 PRO be used simultaneously when printing?

Yes, you can use both AMS and AMS 2 Pro on one H2D.

 

4.Can I dry filament during printing?

Drying is not currently supported for AMS 2 Pro/HTs that are actively involved in the print process, including those that can be used to automatically load during the current print job. Printing while drying is not yet supported.

The only “drying while printing” scenario currently supported is as follows: the printer uses some of the connected AMS 2 Pro/HT devices or an external spool holder for printing, while AMS 2 Pro/HT devices not involved in the current print job can be used for drying.

If the printer is feeding information or printing and at the same time feeding 1 AMS 2 pro for drying, the drying power will be automatically reduced to ensure that the printing power is prioritized. Therefore, we recommend using the external power adapter for best drying results.

 

5.Can I get power from the drying printer?

The H2D printer supports feeding one AMS 2 Pro for drying directly from the printer. If you need to dry filament in multiple AMS 2 Pro units at the same time, the additional AMS 2 Pro units require power via a power adapter (purchased separately ).

 

6.Does it support self drying without connecting to the printer ?

When using the AMS 2 Pro’s filament drying feature, the AMS 2 Pro must be connected to the printer via a 6-pin bus cable to ensure that the printer is turned on and set to filament drying mode.

The AMS 2 Pro cannot perform stand-alone drying without connection to the printer.
