ASA-Green-Bambu Lab

ASA – Green Bambu Lab is an extremely durable material that offers outstanding resistance to UV rays, weathering, mechanical and thermal impacts. Its unique combination of properties makes it an ideal material for printing exterior patterns (plant signs, mailboxes, weathervanes, etc.) and structural parts that require long-term exposure to challenging outdoor conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between ABS and ASA?

ASA-Green-Bambu Lab

ASA is a modified version of ABS that contains an additional acrylate component that improves its adaptability to weather conditions and UV resistance.

ASA retains the impact resistance and workability of ABS while providing better resistance to fading, yellowing and degradation from exposure to sunlight. Both types can emit pungent and unpleasant odors during printing, but the pungent odor of ASA is significantly milder than that of ABS.

2. What is the difference in applications between ABS and ASA?

ASA is ideal for outdoor applications such as exterior vehicle parts, signage and outdoor equipment due to its increased weather resistance and color stability. ABS is a versatile material with excellent mechanical properties that is commonly used for indoor applications.

3. What are the similarities between ABS and ASA?

In terms of physical and mechanical properties, both are characterized by good impact resistance and high tensile strength, with nearly equal levels of strength, toughness and toughness. Both ABS and ASA can emit pungent and unpleasant odors during printing and are equally prone to distortion and the requirement for a closed printer when printing large size models and/or high fill densities.

Printing tips

– Sharp and unpleasant odours may be emitted during printing. Make sure the printer is placed in a well-ventilated area.

– It is recommended to dry it before use to obtain a higher quality print.

The recommended drying condition is 80℃ for 8 hours in a shock dryer or 100℃ for 12 hours on the printer’s heating bed. For more details, please see: thread drying in WIKI.

– ABS is prone to distortion when printing a pattern of large size and/or high fill density. To avoid distortion:

1) Printing too large size and/or high density pattern is not recommended

2) Use enclosed printers and make sure the build plate is properly glued before printing.

3) Set a lower print speed and a higher heating field temperature. For more details, please see: common print quality problems and solutions on WIKI.
