Acrylonitrile-styrene acrylate (ASA) is a thermoplastic that is becoming more popular every day. ASA filaments have many properties that make them suitable for engineering and exterior applications. ASA 3D filament is the new and improved cousin of ABS filament that we have all heard of. ASA has many advantages that are similar to those of ABS, but without some of its disadvantages.

The most important characteristics include strength, hardness, outstanding resistance to chemical attack and heat. It is mainly designed for professional use. It is most commonly used for the production of prototypes that must withstand higher temperatures and must be UV resistant. Finished products that are made from ASA filament are very durable and impact resistant. They can be exposed to sun and heat and usually do not change shape or color. For example, 3D prints made from ABS filament are more delicate in terms of sun exposure and tend to denature and yellow if left outdoors. With ASA, you won’t have these problems; it can stay in the sun for years without warping or changing color.

Another advantage of using ASA filaments over ABS filaments is that they warp less during 3D printing, just be careful how you adjust your cooling fan; ASA can crack on the layers if your 3D printing cooling is too strong. This filament is a bit tricky to 3D print because it’s sensitive to heat during 3D printing, but you can still print it with a 3D printer that doesn’t have a housing. Once printed, however, ASA parts are very heat resistant and durable, making it a great choice for making birdhouses, custom garden equipment, replacement outlet covers, automotive exterior parts, housing components, sporting goods, and other outdoor parts and gadgets.

✔️Strong UV resistance,

✔️Водо-resistant, strong chemical resistance,

✔️Страхотен for functional applications,

✔️Post-acetone-treatment-options,

✔️ Can be printed with 3D printer without housing

❌Susceptible to cracking during the printing process,

❌ More expensive than other 3D printing filaments, consumes a lot of printing power
